Our most versatile belay/rappel device, the Black Diamond ATC-Guide is now 10% lighter and features improved handling in guide mode. With an oval-ized anchor-hole, the device now feeds rope and allows you to pull rope more easily. Multiple friction modes provide the optimal amount of stopping power when lowering or rappelling, and the device´s guide mode lets you belay one or two seconding climbers off an anchor.

I don't know how other brands are because since first day I only used BD and I'm happy with my choice. Good quality for the price and anyways, one of the most used by the majority. Recently I lost my rappelling ATC and carabine so, I had to buy new ones. I didn't felt the need to try anything else.

Solid piece of gear. The best on the market for multipitch climbing. Great for belaying seconds, marginally heavier than the Petzl Reverso but more durable. Also better with thicker ropes (9.5-11.0 mm), and creates less friction for the belayer in auto-block mode. Well worth the extra grams.
